Great point about follow up donations. Haiti could do with all the help it could get. A great step would be if developed countries would cancel Haiti's national debt.

No problem, David, thanks for the great info.
I had never heard of having to bring your own supplies to the doctor!
You bring up a very good point about making follow up donations- it is going to be a very, very long time, if ever, that things start to resemble normalcy in Haiti.

My boss and his wife have a 501(3)c charity in Haiti and something interesting I learned from him is when you go to a hospital there you have to bring your own medical supplies - bandages, alcohol, etc. You have to go to a nearby pharmacy and purchase whatever you need the doctor to use, and if the pharmacy is out your out of luck. If you have to spend the night your family has to bring you sheets and food, and what he's hearing is medical supplies are pretty scarce. This isn't due to the earthquake, this is how it normally is down there.

I would challenge everyone to make follow up donations in a few months because Haiti is front line news today but it won't be long before it drops off the media's radar. If you would like to support their charity you can find more info here: hutoutreach.cfsites.org

Great article, and I hope you don't mind me putting in my two cents.
