The holiday weekend is winding down, so today I will be catching up on yard work and chores I did not get to yet this weekend due to the holiday. Then tomorrow, back to work!

I participated in 3 carnivals last week:

Lisa from Greener Pastures:Personal Finance hosted the Carnival of Personal Finance # 159: The First Zero Emissions City, and included my post “Defining and Investing for Short, Medium, and Long Term Goals”

My favorites from the Carnival were:

A George Carlin Tribute-Finance Jokes by the Broke Grad Student. George Carlin was one of my all-time favorite comedians.

Credit Cards are like alcohol at plonkee money .

J Savings at Budgets are Sexy hosted the Festival of Frugality #132- Frugal is As Frugal Does Edition, and included my post “10 Money Saving Vacation Tips”.

My favorites from the FOF were:

Save Money, Get A Divorce! by Blueprint for Financial Prosperity. I love these types of “Devil’s advocate” posts. It is unfortunate that there are some financial penalties for getting married, such as with taxes.

11 Fun & Frugal Summertime Activities at My Dollar Plan.

My Good Cents hosted The Carnival of Money Stories #66 and included my article “10 Money and Life Lessons I learned from My Father” as an Editor’s pick!

Garage Sales for Gas Money by Harvesting Dollars. Is it really that bad? Maybe so.

Can You Think Your Way To More Money? by the Chief Family Officer. I definitely believe you can improve you finances and build wealth by thinking consciously about how you spend money and your goals (hence the name of this blog), but does the Law of attraction really work? Millionaire Mommy next Door has an experiment going, and I will be following along. I do think it can work, at least to some degree.
